Celebrating relics of the past – factories, airfields, mines or whatever.

Aviation Infrastructure (Abandoned, Repurposed & Historical)
An ongoing catalog of abandoned and/or repurposed airfields, civilian and military, most of which have been forgotten except by those of us that are at a loss to explain an interest in such things.
Extensive research and historical data can already be found elsewhere on many of these airfields. My object here is organize my personal research, and highlight my personal observations, including any site visits of my own, and any new contextual information. Most listings are made because of personal interest in any particular site, a site is not listed elsewhere, and in the long term, to build a more complete catalog of all former aviation sites in the country.
Abandoned Railroad Infrastructure
An ongoing catalog of abandoned and/or repurposed railroad alignments, civilian and military, most of which have been forgotten except by those of us that are at a loss to explain an interest in such things.
Extensive research and historical data can already be found elsewhere on many of these railroad right-of-ways. My object here is organize my personal research, and highlight my personal observations, including any site visits of my own, and any new contextual information.
A related catalog is abandoned railroad water towers, used to replenish steam locomotives before the advent of diesel. Once found every 20 to 40 miles along trackside, most have disappeared along with the locomotives they serviced. This is primarily a visual catalog of these towers, along with location data to help one plan a visit of their own to these sites.
Other abandoned stuff
At this point, an unorganized collection of abandoned stuff I’ve come across or have an interest in.
Survey markers
This is primarily a visual catalog of survey markers I have come across while out exploring other stuff.
